May 26: The Cuban press means emphasized the death of the founder and historical leader of the Revolutionary Armed forces of Colombia (FARC), Manuel Marulanda (Tirofijo), whom the local television described as a "simple", "patient" and "persistent" peasant. A report of the telenoticiero dedicated to Marulanda underlined also that "the guerrillas confirmed that he will continue his struggle always compromised with the social forces progressive and closely linked with the claims of the people".
