March 1: In Havana, the Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN) concluded, in tight secrecy, the fifth round of an exploratory meeting. Sources that asked to remain anonymous indicated that the meeting concluded “without any type of commentary or statement,” and did not specify exactly when the round ended. (EFE, 1/3/07)
March 29: On March 14th, in Havana, the provisional president of Cuba, Raúl Castro, and Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez met with delegates from the government of Colombia and the ELN guerrillas who are negotiating a peace deal. At the meeting, Raúl Castro reiterated on behalf of the Cuban government his “firm and respectful support to the peace negotiations that Colombians are conducting,” reported the Office of [Colombia’s] High Peace Commissioner (OACP).
