International Committee for Democracy in Cuba

Description: The International Committee for Democracy in Cuba was founded in September 2003 by prominent international statespeople and intellectuals, including the former president of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, with the objective of working towards bringing democracy to Cuba. The ICDC held its first meeting in Prague, in September 2004, and issued a final document known as the Prague Memorandum. Among the committee’s goals and activities, is a Committee for a Transition in Cuba, composed of experts who participated in the transitions to democracy and a market economy in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

World Organization Against Torture
